What is the problem or opportunity?
16% of (or 815) Highwood residents are 65 years and over. There are numerous services available to seniors through various government agencies and community organizations. These diffuse services can be difficult to find, navigate and utilize. Further, it seems more likely than not that there are some gaps in available services.
What can be done to address it?
The Mayor could appoint a Senior Well-Being Committee with an objective of making recommendations to the City Council in the following areas:
Creation and maintenance of a registry of senior residents
Creation and maintenance of a registry of available senior services
Methods for promoting available senior services to senior residents
Ideas for new senior services
